An evening long ago expressed in a villanelle.
Driftwood

Upon the sand to stray no more
Sunlight's tribute to the sea,
Driftwood floats ashore.

Hands of Time slowly turn
Sunset's fire rides the sea,
upon the sand, to stray no more

Solar embers glow and burn
gently cleansed within the sea,
Driftwood floats ashore.

Heaven's shawl the stars have earned
Moonlight waltzes with the sea,
upon the sand, to stray no more.

Celestial ghosts spin and turn
silken light upon the sea,
Driftwood floats ashore.

Through the night I slowly learn
to build a dream along the sea.
Upon the sand to stray no more,
Driftwood floats ashore.
