The meaning of a relationship - and of one to the other
Shadows cross the wall as we
stay apart, tracing the dark
Closed eyes so we won’t see
the embers, or the spark.

Tormented in the parting,
twisted, troubled shapes
Like rays of light darting,
thoughts hiding in capes

To capture the moment of Then,
is to chase the Sands of Time
Grains that ask you ‘when?’
as Joy passes by, sublime

Who are we, do you ask –
You, naturally, are you
Unhidden still behind the mask
And I unreal, yet not untrue

To stand steady as a rock
unstirred by the storm
Character white as chalk
would be my real form
