Zann’s Footsteps
Criss Dane

Shadows dance at fiddler’s play
While something rises from the deep
The elder ones will have their day

Starlight fades to ashen grey
As gremlins hound my walls of sleep
And shadows dance at fiddler’s play

And aimless planets fall away
While darkened comets mourn and weep
The elder ones will have their day

Tormented phantoms call me prey
From frozen mindless realms they creep
As shadows dance at fiddler’s play

Too late to stop the coming fray
The panic long begun to seep
The elder ones will have their day

My once known soul in disarray
Now screaming for the grey man’s reap
While shadows dance at fiddler’s play

Relentless song of mind’s decay
As chaos makes its final leap
The elder ones will have their day

No force will keep the hoards at bay
Nor shelters curb the maddened sweep
When shadows dance at fiddler’s play
The elder ones will have their day
