first draft poem about our views of the art world
Art as we see it
Is not as it appears
The color, texture and contrast
are simple means to an end
Metal, wood or paint
the medium is not the message
as a rose is not always a rose
nor does it always smell as sweet
what we think we see
is not always what is there
and what is truly there
is rarely seen by you or I
an artist's vision of his work
cannot be expressed a single way
the heart and soul of his work
cannot be described in a single line
his vision and its meaning
are his to share as he chooses
our interpretation of art
depends on the life we live
