A mysterious light attempts to squeeze the life from a hapless victim.
“The Unfair Light”

Unfair my mind cries. This is the moment I receive for my work, my toil, my life. Am I so insignificant that my fate is this? I have faithfully worked since the moment of life. Each and every breath towards a goal I didn't fully understand. Though in my heart it was truth.. no fact! The great white light from the sky takes away from me all that I have become, nothing.

Surely my works will outlive me. My grand structures stand the test of time that none may outlive. I can stand proud for the bounty I have brought back to my people. Seemingly the world was on my back for moments of time. I had to carry this weight from distances to great to remember. My brothers next to me marching for the betterment of all. We truly embody the spirit of my great people.

The light still remained as these thoughts continued, heating all around him. His body in an instant felt more pain than bearable, but his resolve allowed him to continue thinking.

Demon of the sky, you have no idea the world in which I live. You stay in the skies and watch while I do,create, harvest. I have fought countless battle against numbers to great to count. What knowledge of suffering do you poses? I have brought back feasts to fill the bellies of my people. For who do you provide? Yourself no doubt! Do you not care of my being. We both breath, have passions, thoughts within our heads.

The light continued its ceaseless burn.

You have no god sky demon! I have my queen at least. She shall outlive you. With me there will be others. I can die but our will shall never bow to yours. All over this entire plane my cousins flourish and grow stronger. You, in the sky, seem only to destroy, kill, break.

Still the light stayed focused on him.

I have no regrets. My life was just as meaningless as it was designed to be. But, sky demon, you to have no greater purpose than I. Mine at least attempts something noble. Yours seems to only serve yourself. I have my brothers to work for, my queen to die for. I am content!

“Brandon! Dinner!”

Just in that moment the light ceased its wrath. The sky demon had accomplished his task however. The mind of the tinny black ant had finally had its' last thought. What remained was only ash, no more.
