The battle of wits between a student and a teacher.
‘Once upon a time, I had an assignment to write a story using window, diamond, and leaf. I did. Everyone lived happily ever after. The end.’

“How creative, Ace. I'd be impressed if someone didn’t pull this EVERY year.”

“Did they put ‘The end’? I thought it was a nice touch.”

“At this point in the year, they knew better. Instead of staring out the window all day, they absorbed the fact I if you’ve written a proper conclusion, we know it's the end.”

“Hmmm. . . So are ya mad or amused, Ms. Little? It’s hard to tell.”

“Let’s just say, everyone won’t be living happily ever after.”

“Not good. You gonna call my mom or dad?”

“Whom would you rather?”

“Mom.”

“I’ll be calling both. Maybe then you'll turn over a new leaf."

“How ‘bout a redo? Everyone deserves a second chance.”

“You realize I'm immune to puppy dog eyes? And if I had a dollar for every ‘second chance’ I’ve given you, I wouldn’t be teaching. I’d be in some mansion, adorned with diamonds, and servants surrounding me.”

“You deserve that. You work hard to educate and mold our minds.”

“Give it a rest. Lift that pencil, and write something that passes for intelligent.”

“You betcha.”

‘Once upon a time, I had an amazing educator. Ms. Little was stunningly beautiful, forgiving, and fair. She challenged us to new limits. Unfortunately, one day I failed her. Instead of taking an assignment seriously, I went for laughs. Her usually patient smile was replaced with glaring eyes and throbbing veins. I’ve learned my lesson. To tangle with Ms. Little is a losing battle. However, what I'll remember most is she incorporated the words - window, leaf, and diamonds – in her scolding. I love you, Ms. Little. NOT the end.’
