We went to bed upset with each other last night. My husband and I don’t usually do this, but we made an exception as neither of us wanted to talk about it, or make the situation worse by dwelling on it.
I awoke to the sound of my alarm and got up to do the usual ritual. All the while, my husband is sleeping peacefully.
After getting ready for work, I gathered my things and took them to the living room. Hoping that I wouldn’t wake him, and I could sneak off to work unscathed.
As I turn to go back to my room, I see a beautiful white and purple orchid with a card. The envelope reads, “Happy Anniversary!” I read the card and cry tears of happiness, thinking my husband still remembers the little ways to romance me.
