How the sense of smell connects us and triggers memories and emotions.
I thought of you today
The animalistic way you would take in my scent
Territorial
Possessive
Like you needed your fix

You would breathe in my essence
Binding us to one another
My own breath purring in response
And I would nuzzle my head against your chest

Like a cat leaving its scent trail
Marking its property
Territorial
Possessive
Making sure I could find my way home.

I thought of you today
Your Lacoste cologne invaded my senses
Like spiced heat
Tugging on my soul

I closed my eyes and took in your scent
Reconnecting
Remembering
Wanting, if only for a moment
Before reality stepped in

To follow my scent trail back to you
Back home.
