It all started innocently as a blind date.  A girl by the name of Millicent would not go out with David if he could not get two of his friends to take out two of her friends.  After asking everyone he knew, he finally got Mark and myself to volunteer.

Come Friday afternoon we took the bus into town.  On a quiet street in a residential community we walked up to this well kept two story colonial with a wrap around covered porch.  Three girls, sat side by side on a porch glider, we could hear them talking and giggling before we could see them.  They all stood at the same time, all three were very attractive and much taller than David.

Dave introduced the ladies.  Taking the hand of the tallest of the three, “This is Millicent,” then pointing to the two furthest away, “that’s Carolyn and Sylvia.” He did not introduce Mark or myself, so we introduced ourselves.

Dave told me Carolyn was to be my date, Mark pushed past me, taking the shorter girls hand leaving me with the taller skinny girl.  I felt lucky in either case.

Dave saw what was going on, “No, no!  Bob you are with Carolyn and Mark you are with Sylvia!”  So Mark and I swapped, I apologized for the mistake to Sylvia but Mark seemed to be disappointed.

Carolyn picked up her purse and announced, “Let’s get going, it’s too hot out here!”  She started to climb down the stairs asking, “Where are you parked?”

Dave blurted out,  “We’re going by bus!”

All three girls moaned and a thought went through my head, ‘I have a feeling I'm going to regret this.’

“What if I pay for a cab?”  I wound up paying the lions share for the entire evening.
