A sample of Legendary: Darren runs from his friends, but they have a different view.
From Legendary; Chapter 11: Returning of the lamb. This is a draft and may be subject to change.

"I'm so sorry, Darren. I had no idea."
Sarah said as she rested her hand on his back. He shook it off and continued walking down the road. Sarah pausd for a moment, then caught up with him.
"Darren, we can get it back."
He ignored her and kept walking.
"Darren please, we need to stay together!"
She shouted. He turned and looked at her, his eyes hidden by shadows.
"Why? so you can destroy everything? All I have left is an ability that has done more harm than good. You have already destroyed every good thing in my life!"
He yelled. She tilted her head down, and a tear fell to the ground. Darren shot his head back. He couldn't believe what he had just said.
"Sarah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean that."
He said, holding his arms out. She looked up at him with red eys, as tears streamed down her cheek.
"I'm just so frustrated out all of the time. I didn't mean to take my anger out on you."
She hugged him, and he held her tight.
"Do you blame me for Ryan's death?"
Darren sealed his eyes shut.
"No, not at all. It doesn't matter whose fault it was, we are going to get him back."
Darren winced. He knew that killing Ryan was wrong, and he regretted it everyday, but hearing Sarah think it was her fault broke his heart. He wanted to tell her, but he couldn't.
She pushed back slightly and looked into his eyes. Darren knew she was beautiful, but tonight she looked exceptional. She closed her eyes and leaned forward, but before Darren could meet her face with his, a bolt of lightning hit Darren's side, sending a rippling current through his body, forcing a scream out of him. He lost consiousness and fell to the ground hard.
"Darren!"
Sarah screamed, dropping to her knee's. She looked back at the approaching men. She stood up and faced them.
"You aren't laying a hand on him!"
She screamed. The men stopped. There were 3 of them, two of which she recognized.
"Sarah? You're still with Darren? I thought everyone had abandoned him."
Cole said. His voice was emotionless.
"Darren is my best friend, and he always will be."
Cole shook his head and laughed under his breath.
"Ryan was his best friend too, and look what he did to him."
Sarah stood up straight.
"What do you mean?"
Sarah was confused.
"He didn't tell you? That's pitiful. While Darren and I were traveling, he became wanted. We tried to take him down to figure out why, but he ran. When Ryan caught him, Darren killed him. I was there, watching as he ripped each of Ryan's limbs-"
"Stop it! Darren would never do that! Ryan was he best friend, and Darren misses him everyday!"
Cole had experienced Darren ripping apart Ryan, and he found Darren to be evil person, who had killed Ryan without reason. Darren had escaped his grasp once, he wasn't going to let him do it again.
"I am sorry Sarah, but Darren isn't the man you think he is. I am taking him to the rift, and he will not return."
Sarah shook her head and looked at Darren, who was lying on the ground.
"Is he dead?"
One of the men stepped forward, closer to Darren.
"No, he's only paralyzed."
The young man said
"So he can hear what we're saying?"
She crouched next to him and looked into his eyes.
"Yeah."
Sarah put her hand on his face.
"I don't know if what they said was true, but I will come for you, Darren. I promise."
She said. She stood and walked up to Cole.
"Promise me you won't hurt him?"
Cole grinned.
"I am going to bring him as much pain as physically and metally possible."
A gasp came from the ground behind them, and they all looked over. Darren was using his arms to hold his upper body up.
"Dustin, how is that possible?"
Dustin shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
"Well hit him again!"
Cole shouted.
"I can't, it'll kill him."
He told him. Darren looked up at Cole, and a fire burned in his eyes. Cole held up his hands, but Darren had already thrown his up and pushed Cole back. Dustin reached out for Darren, but he didn't fire at him. Instead, he ran over to him and helped him stand up. The other man rushed over.
"Gabe, help me with Darren."
Dustin told him. Gabriel lifted his arms, pulling the earth out below them, creating a gap for them to fall in. Just before entering the hole, Darren pulled his arms up and threw them to his sides, sending the two flying backwards. Sarah came over and knelt beside him, picking him up around her shoulder.
"Get him as far away as you can!"
Dustin commanded. A blast of fire shot past Dustins cheeck as he stood, but he rolled to the right and faced his former allies.
"Dustin? I never would have thought of you as a traitor."
Cole stated. Dustin ropped to his knee and brought his arms down, calling a massive bolt of lightning down from above, landing between Cole and Gabriel.
"I never would have thought of you as a villian!"
Dustin shouted.
He reached his hand out and fired a bolt at Gabe, who forced a wall of concrete from below to absorb the attack.
"I'm not the villian, I'm the hero! Don't you see? I'm trying to make things right."
Cole said as he raised his arms at his sides and engulfed his arms in flames. Dustin pushed both arms out, one facing Cole, the other facing Gabe, and fire two thin beams of energy at them, followed by a quick movement of standing and running at Gabe. Cole leaned to the side and dodged the shot, while Gabe moved a medium-sized rock in the way, then threw it at Dustin, who slid under it and charged two blades of electricity threw Gabe's chest. He let out a deep sigh, and fell to the ground beside Dustin, who stood to face his next opponent.
Cole laughed.
"I never really liked him either, Dustin. Why don't you come back to my side, help me vanquish this terrible threat."
Dustin twisted his wrists and electrified his arms, matching Cole in power.
"Darren isn't doing anything wrong. Why do you hate him?"
Dustin asked.
"Darren stole an artifact from me, killed my best friend and stole the heart of the woman I love. Why does he hate me?"
Cole asked in return.
"He is trying to save Ryan, and it was Sarah's choice of whom she loved."
Dustin tired to reason. Cole looked down.
"Maybe you're right. I am taking this too far."
Dustin smiled, but it quickly faded as and enourmous sensation of heat erupted in his face, throwing him off of his feet. He landed on his back hard, and Cole quickly came into his hazy vision. Dustin gripped the side of his face, which was burning. He rubbed it in the ground to try to cool it down.
"Or maybe I need my artifact back. It's a shame, you hade potential."
Cole said as he lifted his foot above Dustin's head.
"Cole... Don't..."
Dustin managed to say through the right side of his mouth. Cole's boot crushed Dustin's head into the ground, making a terrible cracking sound. He looked off down the road where Darren once lied still, yet was now out of sight. He lifted his boot out of the puddle of blood now flooding out of Dustin's body and followed the road, to wherever it may lead.
"Sarah, I can explain everything."
Darren moaned. He was limping, aided by Sarah nearly lifting him off the ground, in an attempt to flee from Cole. She looked back, and noticed that it was quiet. She got off the road and slowly stepped down a hill and set Darren down, lying beside him.
"Did you kill Ryan?"
Darren shook his head.
"I did, but he wanted me too. He has the crystal that Cole is after, and it allowed him to cross dimensions. That's why it is splitting, because Ryan is crossing dimensions again."
Sarah looked up into the skies.
"But you still took his life?"
Darren nodded.
"Was it difficult?"
"It wasn't a strain on my power, but it was emotionally scarring. I have killed people before, but Ryan is my best friend."
"Why didn't you tell me before?"
Darren turned his head to face Sarah's. They were so close, but Darren felt so distant.
"I couldn't. I couldn't bear to have you invovlved in this. If I lost you, I would have nothing left."
Sarah smiled.
"You're sweet, Darren, but I want to be involved. I can help if you would let me."
Darren smiled back and nodded.
"You can start by helping me up."
She slid her hand under his back and the other over his feet and pushed him into an up-right sitting position.
"Thank you. Dustin was supposed to shock me, to be convincing, but he overdid it. He is more powerful than he gives himself credit for."
Sarah looked back down the road.
"We left him alone with Cole and that other man. I hope-"
"Wait, what? Dustin is alone with Cole? Aw crap, that wasn't part of the plan! He is going to die if he hasn't already. Sarah, we need to move, now."
Darren prompted.
"We're going back to help him?"
Sarah asked.
"No, we need to get to the cross-over, immediantly."
