This is a modern take on the Shakespearean sonnet.
Foolishly, I led you into my life.
Although before, I had kept you so barred,
You freed me, freed me from terrible strife.
With great expectations, I fell so hard.

The high was beautiful for a short while -
I claimed to be positively altered.
You deceived me with such credible style,
Gradually, our condition faltered.

For now, no more love is left to be mine.
I fear I've been set in a withered state -
This sullen soul never again will shine.
Only time can reveal my unsure fate.

You filled and spilt my half-full cup,
I need a vice to stand me up.
