A poem based somewhat on the novel by Dan Brown
            The Da Vinci Code Re-visited

A golden chalice never held the blood we so revere
nor did a male Disciple love him more
those who sought to tell the tale paid penalties severe
for not accepting Mary as a whore

Justified yet vilified, like Jesus she was slain
but bore a child before the deed was done
she left behind a legacy pre-destined to remain
though Pope and Church denied the truth as one

Throughout the ages some have kept the secret safe and sure
and others left bold clues for us to find
knowing in their deepest soul that this was something pure
they tried to open eyes that had been blind

Legends helped to slide the story into myth so deep
that even scholars failed to recognize
a truth so plain and simple it would make a dead man weep
were he to see it with unbiased eyes

Some sang tales of Holy Grails that many more have sought
but none have ever found, or so they say
Templar Knights, Italian Artists, are but some who fought
to keep the tale alive for us today

So here, dear reader, is that truth which many would deny
the vessel that contained the blood was she
who bore the son of Jesus Christ, our Savior in the sky
and Mary Magdalene will set us free!
