a reporter visits a house
Anna was a journalist for the small town of Grand Rapids and she had just had her first big breakthrough. Mr. Peterson was sending her to the old Mason house to do a story on its history. With the day of the visit upon them her and Michael, the photographer, were ready to go.

“Is this the place?” Michael asked in disbelief.

Anna looked down at the address then at the tarnished plate that barely clung to the weathered stonewall.

“Yep this is it,” She said uncertainly, eying the decaying stairs leading to the old structure.

Michael grabbed all of his gadgets and the duo made their way up the broken walkway. The homeowner greeted them with a grim look.

“Hello, I’m Anna and you must be Mr. Douglas I presume?” She asked, putting her forth for a shake.

He pumped her hand in one brisk movement and spoke I a gravelly voice.

“Yes I’m Mr. Douglas. We should get this over with before they realize you’re here.”

With that Mr. Douglas’s aged body disappeared through the door leaving Anna and Michael shooting each other a look of skepticism.  They followed him with doubt growing in the pits of their stomachs.

“This was the foyer,” Mr. Douglas said. Michael snapped pictures while Anna took notes.

Mr. Douglas lead them all throughout the house telling of its civil war history and how the house was passed down to him but wasn’t fit to live in.

“Mr. Douglas earlier you said we had to hurry up with the tour before they realized we were here who were you talking about if I may ask,” Anna questioned stepping out on the front porch.

“This place is haunted,” He said leaving them dumbfounded on the sunken in porch of the rundown building.
