A poem about loving and not being loved
Why

I hate the way you look at her,
With that deep look in your eyes.
It’s the look you used to give me,
Before you broke the ties.

I loved the way you held me tight,
Like the world was about to end,
And the way you used to whisper,
“I will always be your friend.”

I hate the way you love her,
But even I cannot deny,
She is better for you than I am,
And that’s what makes me cry.

I love that you still smile at me,
And try to keep your word,
But we both know this friendship
Just wasn’t meant to work.

I wish that I could hate you,
I know that I probably should,
But even after everything,
I just don’t think I could.

Though I’m sad to say so,
I know this is goodbye.
The truth is that I love you,
And that’s the reason why.
