In honor of every woman and girl I am proud to call my friend.
Humble chatter phone calls

Simple ramblings of the day

Girlfriend musings fill my ears n’ heart

Strands of friendship here to stay.

We babble on with one another

Drink from streams of what may be

Drops of daughter, sister, mother

Quench my thirst of finding me.

Some go back to high school

others college, or by birth.

A few I can't remember

not always knowing here on earth.

The threads that run between us

We’ve woven over many miles

Of tear stained cheeks and shoulders

Belly laughs, rebellious smiles.

They all are soulful sisters

Of this time and many passed.

When we're together time stands still

Yet flies by us just as fast.

We've struggled through the chocolate,

Searched for peace within our size.

Somewhere amidst internal grace

Is where the freedom lies.

There’s nothing like girlfriend

To mend your deepest pains

To soothe your spirit, cleanse your soul

When the skies of life bring rains.

A woman bond to woman

Is the strongest glue to set

We owe our lives to one another

But there is no sweeter debt
