Mt first try at Daily flash fiction. It's sort of a moment in the characters life.
It was nearly impossible to find anything on the cluttered desk but Mackenzie knew the file she was looking for was there. The case that she had been working on for months had just gotten a new lead. It was hard concentrating on trying to remember where she had last seen it with the sound of people bustling about the office and the constant ringing of telephones. As she lifted a stack of files to move to another section of her desk she flipped through them to make sure the file wasn't there.

Mackenzie was in a hurry to find the file so that she could follow the lead. Then just as she pushed a rather thick folder to the side she uncovered the file she was looking for, "Ah ha," she stated somewhat loudly. Loud enough that one of her fellow officers asked what she was "Ah haing" about.

"I don't have time to explain right now," she stated as she pulled on her coat. Stuffing the file in her shoulder bag she rushed out of the office. Mackenzie hoped this was the lead that she had been waiting for. Soon enough she would know if it was the key to solving her case.
