A poem about how someone might feel about a crush. I wrote this when I was in high school.
The Crush

I like you and I’ve told you so.
All you do is brush me off.
The one question I ask is why?
Am I too young, too fat, or too ugly?
It’s probably all of those reasons but why can’t you over look them?
If we can’t go out then maybe we could be friends.
I’ve poured my heart out to you and you haven’t given me an explanation.
But maybe that’s good that we don’t talk because we might say or do something we’ll regret.
It hurts that you don’t talk to me but maybe that’s for the best.
I tried to get over you by thinking of another guy.
But that didn’t work.
All I can think about is you.
I tried to get you out of my mind because I know when you go it’ll hurt even more than it does now.
I’ve gone through a year of liking you and the time we could be spending together is getting shorter.
But there is one thing that I know.
You were my first love and you’re the one I will always love.
