A poem about the joys and frustrations of being a writer
Welcome to my secret world,
a world of creativity unfurled.
This is where I jot down my thoughts:
for stories, poems, news reports.
All I need is peace and quiet
and time to let my imagination run riot.
A notebook and pen are my only tools,
Write clearly and interestingly are my rules.

So here I am in my private place,
hoping to write a story that's ace,
a story described as a fascinating read -
Inspiration is all I need.
Don't talk to me while I'm deep in thought,
I need complete silence to write as I ought.
Why can't I make this poem rhyme?
I find myself re-wording it time after time.

Writing is a pleasurable occupation.
sometimes ending in celebration,
but there are times when you can't get going -
your composition is anything but flowing.
Put it down till another day,
maybe then you'll race away,
and produce that masterpiece
or something fairly good at least!
