This is chapter 2 of Demonic Dawn and a bit of a catch up lesson just explaning everything
Levon walked into the hole followed by the other five. The hall was engulfed in darkness beside from the light flicker of candles on brackets. They walked all the way down the hall until they came to a guard hut where two guards stepped out and looked at the six of them.

“Name?”

“Levon Grey, Morgan Hawthorne, Demetri Ringwood, Piper Light, Kaya Robin and Sonica Night.”

The guards moved across and allowed them inside. The village that lay beyond the hall was magnificent, there were podiums coming off of the walls, spiralling stairs that led to shops and houses. Attached off of the hall was a straight road lined with shops, in the centre was a white marble statue lined with flowers at the base. Right in the heart of the village was the main hall, made from dark brown wood, a large rusted clock sat at the top, the hands slowly turning.

“Welcome home.” Said Evi, coming over to the six of them, the little girl still with her.

“I am glad that you got here safely. Where are the other four children?”

“They are at the main hall; they are waiting for all of you.”

“We shall come straight away.”

All of them headed up towards the main hall, they passed numerous people waving and smiling at them. All the villagers were peaceful and calm. They went inside main hall and were lead up two flights of steps before coming to the main office where inside sat a short plump man, a head of soft grey hair, rosy cheeks and a chubby face. Sitting in front of his desk were the four children, an extra chair there for the last girl that was with Evi.

“Ahhh! You have all returned! Magnificent!” He said, bouncing over and patting the males on the shoulders and kissing the females cheeks.

“We have been informed that you wanted to speak with us. Not to be rude but may I ask why.”

“Well you see, we have to explain to these young children here what has happened and what must be done. I would like you here also because I have another task for you.”

“Very well then.”

The man sat at his desk and faced the children. He looked at the young girl who was with Evi; she slid behind Evi and peered around her back.

“Come and have a seat young lady.” Smiled the man.

“I am sorry sir but she has taken a liking to Evi and will not leave her.” Said Levon.

“Very well then.” He turned back towards the four children in front of him. “We have taken you from your city because you were going to be turned into genetics.”

The blonde male who spoke up at the track yet again spoke.

“What are genetics?”

“Genetics start out as humans like yourselves. But then these humans are injected with a black poison that I believe was almost injected into you young lady.” He nodded towards the young female that was almost hit with the poison.”Well this poison takes over your body making you stronger and more dangerous. Once the black poison finishes taking over your body they then inject a silver poison. This one is perfectly painless but has the worst affect of them all-“

“It shuts down all of your systems and takes over your mind. It makes you completely emotionless and turns you into a killing machine. Your own goal as a genetic is to kill.” Finished Morgan, staring at the ground, almost mumbling to herself.

The mayor looked at Morgan and frowned at her.

“Thank-you, Morgan. That is exactly right. This race that you were entered in is a way to find the five strongest and smartest children to turn into genetics. They do this every year as a way to better the way of the genetic race.”
The four children in front of the mayor all looked frightened. A female and a male whispered among themselves while the other two sat silent in fright.

“As a result of you five becoming the winners of that race the city will be looking for you. If they find you then they will turn you into genetics. As a result of this bad luck you are unable to leave this village for your own safety.”

“What!” said a female of about the age of 17 with dark blonde wavy hair and brown eyes. “What about our families!?”

“Your families will be safe because the city will not want to kill any innocent citizens. But if your families are in danger then there will be nothing for you to do unless you want to be turned into something that will execute anyone and anything that shows a threat to the way of life.”

The female fell silent and bowed her head.

“Since you will be staying here for a very long time we have assigned you to a home in the village and also we have enrolled you into school here.”

The mayor got up and shook each of the children’s hands.

“If you need anything I am mayor Silver. I hope you enjoy your new lives here.”

The children all got up and were escorted out with two security guards. The young female that was with Evi refused to leave, Evi bent down and smiled at the girl.

“Alice, you must go with the guard but he will take you to my home and I will meet you there. Alright?”

Alice looked up at Evi and smiled back.

She released Evi’s hand and instead took the security guards hand and left the room. The doors were shut quietly behind them.

“Now for your mission.”

They all turned back towards the mayor who was yet again seated at his desk, he was fiddling with a pen.

“For your mission you will have to go back into the city.”

“But we just left that hell hole.” Said Sonica, frustrated at the task.

“I know and I am sorry that I did not inform you earlier of this. But you must go back and save one of the villagers from Deep Hallow. She has been captured in an attempt to infiltrate the city and save the prisoners from the Genetic’s base.”

“When will we be leaving?”

“You will leave tomorrow. For now just rest but tomorrow you must leave at 6.00am. The woman’s public execution is at 12.00pm, you will need to be able to save her and make it back here.”

“Should be no trouble.” Said Morgan.

“Thank-you very much for helping in any way possible.”

“It is our pleasure.” Said Levon.

“Alright then, off you go. Go relax you all deserve it.”

They all bowed to the mayor and left the room; they walked in silence back down the steps and out of the main hall.

Once they were in the main street they started to speak.

“Another mission!” Groaned Sonica. “I can’t feel my legs from the last one!”

“We have to help. That woman is part of our rebellion so she has to be saved.”

Sonica grumbled and walked away back to where her clan lived. Morgan sighed at Sonica and also left with Demetri and Kaya. Piper, Levon and Evi still stood in the main square.

“I have to go and meet Alice. I will see you guys tomorrow for the mission.” Said Evi, waving them off and leaving for her own apartment.

Levon and Kaya waved back and both left as well to go to their apartments.

“Do you think we will make it out of this one?” Asked Kaya quietly so that no one around them could hear.

“I don’t know. The city has strengthened their guard. But none the less we have to save the prisoner; she is one of us
we can’t just leave her for dead.”

“Hopefully we won’t be left for dead.”
