A poem about my small town :/
I live in THAT America.
The one where I can walk down Main Street with a covered dish and not get a second look
The one where neighbors have known each other for 10 20 30 years
The one where nothing bad ever happens and all the children are happy
The one where everyone has their IPhone and their pockets are always full

But I DON'T belong.
I belong the America where we think before we speak
Where we ask before we take
Where we give and then we thank
Where love is more powerful than money
And greed does not exist
Where people move to music and drum and dance
Where children don’t just play but draw and write and sing
Where there is something more than this surface we see
More in the air than what we breathe

So though I may live in that America,
My heart remains undyingly
Free.
