Ch.2 in a witch's son
Kenan stepped out of the forest into the clearing the snow crunching under his feet. Sarah came out of the forest stepping in the prints Kenan had left, coming up beside him she kneels down and scoops up a handful of snow and packs it into a ball. "I'll work on the bottom you work on the middle. Okay Kenan?" she asks
"Yeah sure." Kenan kneels down and packs some snow into a ball then begins to roll it through the snow causing the ball to pack up more snow. After about five minutes he looks over at Sarah she's rolling her noticeably larger ball in a spiral fashion. "Want to put them together now?" yells Kenan. Sarah looks up and shouts back "sure bring yours this way then we'll put them together." she yells back pushing her ball towards Kenan and he doing the same. the two meet and Kenan tries to get his ball on top of hers but he can't quite get it. "Gimme a hand please?" he asks Sarah who'd already begun to work on the head. She looks up and sees him having trouble. "Yeah sure here I come."
Just then out of the woods comes a big man storming over
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING SARAH!!" yells the man
"DAD!" she says startled at his sudden appearance.
Sarah's father stomps over to her grabbing her by the arm yanking her up sharply causing her to let out a small yelp of pain at the sudden movement
"I..I'm sorry sir we were just playing." stammers Kenan trying to explain
Sarah's father quickly looks around catching sight of Kenan shooting him a look that makes Kenan wish he'd just kept quite.
"YOU! I TOLD YOU ALREADY TO STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!" he yells at kenan "SARAH GO HOME." he shouts turning for a second to his daughter. Sarah turns and begins the walk back to town. with an apologetic look towards Kenan.
Kenan stands up ready to run from the man if need be.
"Oh ho ho, where do you think you're going little boy?" asks Sarah's father malevolently "You think just because I'm drunk I'm not afraid to hit a child?" Kenan stammers for words but can't think of anything to say "What no words? nothing to say boy" he says spitting the last word like a curse. "I've warned you before boy, STAY. AWAY. FROM. MY DAUGHTER!" he shouts at Kenan causing him to flinch and begin to cry a little. "What are you going to cry? You gonna cry you..." he pauses for a second trying to come up with the right name. Kenan wants to run but his feet feel rooted to the spot where he stands "Broomstick Bitch?" he smiles a little at the name he came up with. "No one else believes me, but I know the truth. I know the truth about you and your withchy family. I'll bet you didn't think I knew did ya!" he says pushing Kenan into the snow with a laugh. Kenan lets out a cry of pain from being pushed into the deep snow him landing on his back the wind knocked out of him.
Sarah's father looks around and sees the unfinished snow man. "What's this?" he asks walking over to the snow man. "Getting my daughter to help you build a snow Gollum? I don't think so he then kicks the snowman's base spreading snow everywhere from the force of his blow. Kenan sits up letting out a cough trying to regain his breath. Kenan wants to hit this man for destroying his and Sarah's snowman. He runs at the man yelling at the man "What are you going to fight me boy?" he asks letting out a laugh as Kenan runs at him hitting him with all his strength the rage now rushing through him. the punch lands on his leg.
"That hurt you little Bastard!" he snarls kicking at Kenan but Kenan darts out of the way punching him again in the back but not as hard as before.
The bigger man turns to face Kenan, a face of pure Rage across his face. Kenan is startled at how close his face is and falls back his arm landing on a tree branch covered by snow. Kenan swings it and hits the older man in the face leaving a bright red spot across the cheek and up into his hair. Kenan stands and runs from the man into the forest throwing a look over his shoulder he sees that the older man is right behind Kenan his longer legs quickly catching up to Kenan! he quickly turns a tree then another and another. But to no avail the older man is right on his tail! Kenan not thinking where he was going ends up running into a wall. a wall out here in the woods Kenan looks confused but then realizes that unknowingly he's run to his house! he quickly runs to the door in the house banging on the door
"KELA! HELP ME!" he yells causing his sister to look outside
"Kenan! What's wrong?" she asks looks out the door and sees Sarah's father charging at Kenan "KENAN INSIDE NOW!" she shouts as she steps out to confront the big man who's chasing after her kid brother.
Raising her arms she does some weird hand signs and she crosses her arms across her chest. Something shoots from where her arms meet hitting the charging man square in the chest. He stumbles crashing face first into the house's wall.
"Kenan! are you okay?" she asks turning back to her brother who's now crying tears now rolling down his cheeks. "Oh don't cry little brother. There's nothing to be scared of now, the big scary man's asleep now. He can't hurt you anymore." she says pulling him into a hug a hand on the back of his head pushing it slightly into her shoulder for him to cry on.
Kenan let's the crying take over his body and he blurs out "I.. I.. was just so scared. He destroyed my snowman and... and... he chased me through the woods and I didn't know what to do." he says chokingly thorough his crying, before letting flow a flood of tears. "It's alright now little brother, mom's going to be home soon and then we can take him back to town and everything will go back to normal." she says with a smile that makes Kenan smile
She ushers Kenan inside and then pulls Sarah's father in. She then ties him to a chair to make sure that if he wakes up he can't hurt anyone. Kenan then begins telling his sister about why a big man was chasing him through the woods
A little while later it's getting dark and their mother still hasn't returned. "Go get the sled Kenan? I'm going to pull him back to town." "alright says the red eyed Kenan walking outside and grabbing the sled they use to pull firewood. bringing it back to the front of the house he sees another set of tracks that he can only assume are his mothers not recognizing the prints.
Kenan steps inside to see his mother Tall, her long grey hair covering her back and her cloak's hood pulled down. He rushes up to her and hugs her around the waist "Mom welcome back" says Kela noticing her only because her brother just ran into the house
"Who's our guest?" she asks taking note of the big sleeping man tied to a chair. "One of your boyfriends Kela?" she teases .
"Nope. He was chasing Kenan. something about not wanting him and Sarah playing." she says. Her mother nodding knowingly. "Ah that would go a way towards explaining things. But why is he still here?" she asks. "We were just about to take him back to town." explains Kenan "Kela was going to drag him back in the wood sled." Her mother nods in approval "then that can wait a minute while we eat. Or have you two already eaten?" asks her mother.
"No we haven't had anything yet. I thought you'd be back sooner and we could talk while Kenan makes us something." says Kela to her mother.
"I won't mind cooking if you two take him back to town." says Kenan.
"Sounds like a plan then." says their mother. "Kenan do you need anything from town then?"
"No, but could you tell Sarah I'm sorry for me? I feel bad about keeping her father tied to a chair.
"Sure thing Bro." says Kela, untying the Big man and dragging him to the sled where he was then tied down anew. The two women set off towards town chating quietly while Kenan busys himself with making something other than the prridge he'd had for breakfast decideing on a stew using some rabbit he'd caught in a trap earlier in the week.
