A story of one of the last people on earth and his battle with illusions.
He carefully pulled the worn string of the compound bow in his hands. Releasing it gently, the memories came flooding back. Everything from hunting with his own father to target practice cycled in his head like a maelstrom of nightmares. The worst memory was the one he had of ending so many of the sick people's lives with this weapon. He closed his eyes then reopened them and decided to move on.
Elly still wouldn't talk to him. She hadn't since the day her mother passed on. He knew one day she'd come around. Placing the bow on his back with its quiver of only five arrows, he took Elly's hand they left the small deserted cabin with the goods they had scavenged.
