A Night Out

He holds the door for me as I climb into the car

I can’t remember what time we left the bar

I’m laughing, I think he holds my hand

Something about liking the same bad band

His fingers move closer to the hemline of my skirt

I slur my words, “I don’t want to get myself hurt”

He whispers he could never do such a thing

He was so nice to me, he deserved a fling

I wanted to resist but the poison held me back

The world around me was swirling into black

I woke feeling robbed, my head in an ache

The voice in my head hisses “Oh, for god’s sake”

Gathering my dress, I walk the walk of shame

Feeling like an idiot, I have myself to blame
