I LIVED LIFE AS AN UNKNOWN



I lived life as an unknown;
An unknown I will die.
None smiled at me when I lived;
When I go none will cry.

What did I do for others
That they might smile at me?
What did I achieve not to
Die in ignominy?

How does it matter if I
Lived unknown, unobserved,
When I know in my heart that
His cause I always served?

My life was pretentionless,
Pretentionless I’ll die,
Contented that I will be
In His observing eye.
