The Atrocities of Hitler
A poem about the Holocaust.

Edited by Livingston County Writers & Critics Support Group

In the fall of the year 1939, the Jewish people had a very bad time
Hitler and his army, how they came and left things not at all the same
They came with wrath and to destroy every man and woman, girl and boy
Their hearts were fixed, their paths were set; no turning back and no regrets
They marched with ease, their heads held high
From one place to another to watch them die
The death camps were a vast success for those who chose to defeat and brought deep oppression for those who did entreat
Grave fear possessed these innocents; their cries on Earth were not heard
Rejected by all; nowhere to go and no place to turn
They cried to us for shelter; they wanted great relief but their was no one that helped them they were subjected to grief
With hopeless despair all around them their lives all but dead and gone
Nothing they did could astound them for everything had gone so wrong The world knew the genocide of a nation knew their horror their degradation they knew it would never be over they would never be free of Hitler and his army dead though they be
