The life of a young female vampire is not everything that Elizabeth had dreamt.
Author's Note

This is a new project that I have undertaken due to the completion of my 50,000 word submission for NaNoWriMo. It is a little out of my comfort zone, as I have never written in the paranormal/cultural genre before and I have never had a female central role. I hope you enjoy the story; I don't know how long it will be...

Synopsis

Sixteen-year old Elizabeth Vayne is just like every other girl her age; all about make-up, friends and boys. Except, Elizabeth has a deadly secret; her father is a vampire.

Since a very young age, Elizabeth has felt the call of her vampire side but has managed to suppress it. For almost thirteen years, Elizabeth has controlled her thirst for blood and has maintained her image as a human girl.

With the transfer to a new school across town, however, the vampire inside her calls out for attention and Elizabeth's iron grip on her inner vampire begins to faulter.

Seduced by the idea of a vampire cult, Elizabeth must tame her inner demons before they consume her...

Chapter One

"Elizabeth Vayne, you come back to this front door right now!"
The call of her father alerted Elizabeth to the risk she was taking by storming out. He could very easily lose his temper and take it out on an Innocent. He had done that before and Elizabeth didn't want to be the reason for another Innocent losing their life. Her mother had been one reason and she refused to follow in those footsteps.
She stopped dead on the pavement but refused to turn to face her father.
"March yourself back inside this house, young lady," her father's voice demanded sinisterly.
"No," she hissed, turning to face him, still refusing to walk anywhere.
"We will talk about this inside," her father snarled.
"No," she spat back.
With a gust of wind, her father was beside her, his hand locked around her wrist, holding her firmly in place.
"Do not disobey me, child."
"I'm not a child, dad!" Elizabeth yelled, trying to free herself from her father's iron grip. "I'm sixteen, for heaven's -"
"Do not mention the Holyness in my presence, Elizabeth," her father muttered.
"Dad!" Elizabeth shouted, exasperated. "I've already told you; I'm going out with friends. I'm a sixteen year old girl who deserves a social life."
"Social lives are for humans, dear," her father sighed, releasing Elizabeth's arm.
"I am a human -"
"Half-human, my daughter. Your mother may have been human but I am, very much, a vamp -"
Footsteps crunched at the end of the road and Elizabeth immediately whipped around.
"Humans," her father mumbled behind her. "Fresh, young humans -"
"Friends, dad," Elizabeth said, glancing over her shoulder. "Do not touch them. They haven't done anything wrong."
"Do not use the Innocent act against me, dear," he replied.
"I already did," she retorted, turning and walking down the path to her front gate.
"What time are you going to be back?" He asked quickly, watching the approaching humans as they strolled along the path towards his home.
"No idea," she yelled back as she walked out of the gate and joined her group of friends. "Don't wait up!"
Before her father had time to reply, Elizabeth and her friends had disappeared around the corner of the road and into the darkness. Sighing, he turned and sped into the kitchen. He needed blood. And he knew just where to get it.

"Thank you for saving me," Elizabeth said, strolling alongside a taller male.
"No problem," the male replied. "Didn't realise you had a DID thing going on."
"Shut up," Elizabeth groaned, elbowing him in the ribs. "I am not a damsel and I was not in distress, Kurt."
"Whatever you say, princess," Kurt winked in reply.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and turned to face the other male stood beside her. He was roughly her height, with blonde hair that bounced as he walked.
"You aren't going to help me out here, are you, Richie?"
Richie turned and smiled at Elizabeth, not saying a word. Elizabeth tutted and folded her arms stroppily.
"Tell me again why I am friends with you guys," she muttered.
"Because we hang out with this group," a female voice chirped from behind them.
Arms wrapped around Elizabeth's neck as she was embraced in an awkward hug.
"Hey, guys!" El beamed, turning to return Kate's backward hug. "I was wondering when you were going to get here!"
"We've been following you since the corner of your street," Samantha replied, giving Elizabeth a brief hug. "Your dad gives us the creeps."
"You're not the only ones to feel that way," Kurt replied, shuddering. He glanced at Elizabeth and smiled awkwardly. "I know he's your dad and all, El-"
"Don't worry about it," Elizabeth cut in, smiling broadly. "He is definitely a creep. Anyway," she said, turning and looking at Richie, "what was so big that you couldn't show us tomorrow?"
A wild smile spread across Richie's lips and his eyes glinted. "You guys are not going to believe what I found."
"What is it, Rich?" Kate asked slowly. "Tell us."
"It's a place where Arkangel can meet," he replied. "It's awesome."
"The cult?" Samantha hissed, marching forwards. "You bring us out here when it is almost pitch black to show us a place where we can host the cult?!"
"Easy, Sam," El replied, raising her eyebrows at Samantha questioningly. "Let's give him a chance."
Turning back to Richie, Elizabeth noted a twitching in his left hand.
"Your hand okay, Rich?" She asked, gesturing at it.
Without even looking, Richie tucked it behind his back. "Yeah, it's fine," he muttered. "Now, come on! You aren't going to believe this."

"Erik X Vayne, father of Elizabeth Alice Vayne, husband of recently deceased Alice -"
"Yes, I know who I am," Erik spat at the young attendee who had been sent to deal with him. The attendee shivered and a drip of sweat ran down the side of his face.
"I'm not going to eat you, man; calm down," Erik sighed. He liked coming to the Cruor - he could be himself around the residents - but they always sent him the most untrained attendees to tend to his needs.
"V-very good, s-sir," the attendee stuttered in reply. "W-what w-would y-you l-l-"
"For goodness sake, man. I will take three fresh Innocents," Erik demanded.
"Y-you are aw-aware that that c-carries an ad-additional fee -"
"Yes, I am very aware, man. Bring the Innocents to the front entrance; I will leave your payment here."
Bowing respectfully, the attendee seized his opportunity to leave and beat a hasty retreat.
Sighing and rubbing his temples, Erik fumbled in his pocket for his wallet. Drawing it out, he opened it and tipped out the contents; a few notes, several million coins and, finally, a small razor blade. Scoopin all but the razor blade back into the wallet, he put it back inside his jacket.
Glancing at the notice on the wall, Erik read off the fee for using the services of the bloodshed.
"1ml per life, additional 2ml per Innocent. So, 9ml," he calculated.
Picking up the small measuring pot from beside him, Erik pressed the blade to his palm and dragged it across his hand. Not feeling any pain from the act, he quickly squeezed his hand and allowed 9ml of blood to pour into the pot. Screwing on the lid with his uncut hand, he sucked on the cut and, within seconds, the bleeding had stopped; the cut now replaced by a small scar. It would clear up in a few hours.
Standing up, Erik closed his eyes and navigated the Cruor without looking. Opening them again, seconds later, he was outside the main entrance.
The attendee appeared then, accompanied by three young women. He led them down the steps and gestured at Erik.
Erik nodded. "A pleasure doing business with you," he smiled.
"Fresh Innocents," the attendee muttered quietly. "Untainted by any sin."
"Pure Innocents," Erik whispered. "Excellent."
He looked up at the attendee who stood before him and nodded once more.
"Your services are thanked and will be remembered. Have a good night," he said, turning and leading the three women away from the bloodshed.
"Good night to you, too, sir," he heard the attendee say as he sped off with the Innocents.
