A whimsical journey into the forest.

As evening descends on the forest

The setting sun ascends the stage

And filters ethereal patterns down

Through tiny gaps in mighty pines;

Exploding in a kaleidoscope

Of rich delicious hues that

Sparkle last light on life below.

God’s furry creatures scamper to and fro,

One last romp before daylight recedes

Into the morrow and night time

Assumes his deterrent duty.

Gnarled, shedding tree stumps

Fillet themselves, unfurling mossy

Lined blankets; soft and supple

Invitations for their fairy friends

Who ceremoniously curl up

Beneath the fireflies who hover

Over them, like blinking beacons.

Though a night in the forest

May Lie beyond

The scope of mortal man,

His children play with pixies

Just because they know they can.
