A poem about how a new love can make you forget you've ever been hurt.
My vacant arms long to feel your warm embrace.
My dreams are filled with your eyes, your face, your body.
When I wake I turn and expect to feel your next to me.
But you were never there.

My lips are haunted by the kiss they never felt.
Everything is stained by regret since I walked away from you.
A regret of being paralyzed by fear.
Fear of loving you while you love another.

When we speak my heart pounds so that I think it may explode through my chest.
I crave every word and hope that the next will be the one I long to hear.
I can think of nothing else but you.
When we touch it is only pain to pull my hand from yours.

Your touch is like an electric shock to my heart.
Surprise fills every cell, every part of me as I realize
that I can still feel.
The fear is not enough to make me hesitate again.

I am in a losing battle for control of my heart.
Newly in love, like a child.
I forget that I have ever been hurt and wait.
I wait to know your thoughts, your hopes, your fears.
