A humorous poem about a shy person meeting a person they have a secret crush on.
If we were to meet, there are many ways that I would want it to go
We would have a long conversation and I would learn all I want to know,
Or I would see you and say something witty or funny.
We would get along; I would bet any amount of money.
In reality, I would see you and think of something great to say.
As I start walking towards you, please don’t trip I would pray.
My stomach ties in knots, and I am unable to breathe.
I have a hard time ignoring my chattering teethe.
I try not to trip as I approach you.
Somehow I make it to where you are without even stepping on my shoe.
I keep walking past you straight to the restroom door.
It feels like I am floating, since I can’t even feel my feet hit the floor.
Afterwards I think how stupid, you have been dreaming of this for so long.
How could I have let everything go so wrong?
Later, I sit and wait for you to walk over, so I don’t have to approach you
Maybe you will come over and we can talk over some brews.
Hopefully one day we will meet, but hopefully it won’t go this way.
Maybe I’ll at least be able to tell you to “Have a nice day.”
