Angie and Danny find each other on a dating site, fall in love. But death strikes a blow.
She sat on the bench overlooking the lake, watching the water play tricks with the refection from the sun. Angie never imagined that, heaven would be like this, peaceful yet lonely. Time did not exist here, time was a man made thing only useful while on earth. Here, there was no night, no day and best of all no Monday mornings. As yet Angie had seen nobody, but felt as if she was being watched and judged by who knows what. Was this heaven or some halfway house between heaven and earth?. All she knew was that she as a memory of Danny and some kind of car crash, she remembers feeling no pain or lose. Just a feeling of falling faster and faster then gently coming to rest here. Where ever here is. She felt no hunger or thirst, in fact at the moment she felt nothing but an emotional void. Just a wanting to know where the hell she was and what if anything was going to happen next.
All the religions had got it so wrong, you are not greeted by your dead relatives, virgins or angels. You just arrive here wondering what is going on.
"What the fuck is going on and where am I,?" She shouted with anger in her voice.
Well at least now she knew her voice still worked, but what good is a voice if there is nobody to listen, what good is sight if there is nothing to see. Angie needed the answers to a thousand questions that were rushing round her head. A slight breeze and smell of rosemary took her mind from her thoughts, Angie's vison blurred, and she felt the urge to cough. The sound of the cough echoed across the lake, She had been a smoker when on earth, but now it wouldn't matter, it couldn't kill her. She smiled to herself at the thought, in fact whatever she did wouldn't kill her, it didn't matter anymore.SHE WAS DEAD.
" Hello " said a voice in her head,
At first she put it down to her mind playing tricks, but then she heard it again, louder this time.
" Hello, how are you? "
Angie now became bewildered and frightened, not understanding what was happening..
"Who are you, show yourself,? " the tone of her voice giving away her fear.
"All in good time Angela, who I am is of very little importance at the moment," said the voice in a soothing tone.
"Am I dead or just dreaming,?" said Angie while wondering if she really wanted to know the answer.
"Nothing ever dies, it just changes form. You have changed form and are now on a different higher plain, where time is irrelevant. Time only matters when you have something to measure. Here there is nothing to measure". said the voice.
Angie thought before she answered,
"Where is here,?"
There was a slight pause before the answer came back
"Here is everywhere, Like the universe the are no boundries. Nothing is real, nor is it false, its there because you want it to be there"
Angie was now even more confused, what does all this mean, where is it leading to, everything as an end and everything as a beginning, everything as an opposite. Light and dark, good and evil.
The voice spoke again "You are thinking like a child, still tied to your earthly beliefs".
"How did you know what I was thinking" said Angie, now frightened of any other thoughts coming into her mind.
"Your mind is like an open book at the moment, you have not yet mastered how to close the book and only reveal certain pages" said the voice.
"I don't like this, it's frightening," said Angie in a worried tone..
