The way loneliness eats away at the soul.
Loneliness

Loneliness is a very cruel mistress,

In the dead of night you can hear her whispers.

You toss and turn trying to find slumber,

But you can not sleep because your mind is full of thunder.

In a room full of people she sits on your shoulder,

Weighting you down like a very large boulder.

Nothing can remove her power to haunt,

You smile at people, but your soul is gaunt.

Perhaps one day she will release you from her grip,

As your life slowly slips away, drip by drip.
