Queen of the rock/(to you it was a mountain)/Queen of the sandbox.
Do you remember
being young
and fast
and queen?
Queen of the rock
(to you it was a mountain)
Queen of the sandbox
(to you it was the beach)
Queen of the tree
(to you it was the forest)

Do you remember the world
being young
and endless
and incandescent?
It was innocent
(you never saw the ugly
or the abused)
It was bigger than you
(it was
the same way it still is)
It was glorious
(you never saw the broken
or the used)

You’re not young
nor faster than you were
nor bigger than you were.
You’re still queen
(in a sense)
Queen of your life
Queen of your house
Queen of your rock
and your sandbox
and your forest.

Only now your world is hard
and powerful and dirty.
The innocence is gone
(you took it when you treaded on the untouched earth)
The size is unrealistic
(you realized it when you said you’re the biggest)
The prettiness is fake
(you proved it when you bought your bloodstained house)

You’re still queen in your head
the same as everyone else.
