Pickpocket On Slave Street - Antagonist Background Story CONTEST Entry
An elaborate carriage stopped in front of Reed Manor, revealing a man dressed in silvers and whites. As he approached the door, it was opened by a resident of the household.
“Hello (NAME) good to see you again, are you here for my sister?”
(NAME) smiled at the red haired girl in the doorway, “Yes, could you please retrieve her for me?”
The young girl dashed away in search of her sister.
No later had she left, the girl returned with a woman with long blond hair.
“Thank you Angela,”
Angela smiled and left the two alone.
(NAME) took the hand of the woman before him and led her to the main room. It was not his home, but he had visited enough times to remember its layout.
After the two got settled (NAME) began to speak.
“I know you are angry with me…”
“Angry?”
The woman looked at him as if he had just stricken her.
“I am not angry (NAME), I am hurt that you lied and did not keep your promise…”
There was no possible way she could be angry at him, for her love blinded her more than the actual sightless.
“I tried Ursula, I truly did.”
(NAME) lied; he had been avoiding her more often since their inevitable wedding day drew nearer.
(NAME) was a cheat, gambler and a manipulator through and through. His poor fiancée refused to believe all of it though.
“I… I do not think I can marry a man that does not keep his promises like you refuse to do.
If only not marrying her was an option, for (NAME) it wasn’t.
“Please, my sweet Ursula, give me one more chance.”
Like the perfect fiancée she was, she gave that other chance to him, along with many others.

After hours of small talk it was time for (NAME) to leave.
“Will I be seeing you again soon (NAME)?” Ursula’s voice was soft and hopeful.
“Yes, you will my dear and I will be waiting until that time comes.”
He then kissed her forehead and left the manor, one more lie following close behind.
