Who am I or do I do?

the second?

difficult to prove

A writer?

In passing-perhaps a wit

nothing I could pen commit

Sold bread

though no baker´s seed

A salesman lacking any greed

Interests? vast though undefined

no [one] substantive builds my mind

I am as will or would alike

the Moon to Neptune

Neptune to Pike

live bait that wriggles on a spike

I am a promise

at desperate need

neither night nor day concede

what am I is what I do?

Who am I ?
