I ran into an old friend at church the other day and she inspired this poem. Cheers Keats

There she is
A wilderness within
God’s greatest creature
Eyes, deeper than any pool
Her heart, stronger did it grow
Faith, hers now stands quite true
Like a mountain within her mind
Symbiotically connected to her soul
Never could it be removed
Changed or reshaped
All that she is has been saved
Redeemed
She was once wicked and wild
I knew her back during that time
She use to stand
In the middle of the road
Daring people to run her down
She use to drink her pain away
Never for a second would she pray
She use to refuse God at every turn
She believed she was cursed
Not because of what she had done
But rather because who she was
Her vicious cycle was easily relatable
For many years we lost track of each other
Easily I spiraled down into further madness
As she climbed out of the blackness
Ultimately and without question
She saved herself as I failed myself
She found a way to live beyond the grave
While I buried myself much deeper
And now
There she is
Standing right in front of me
I moved in quite closer
No reaction was forthcoming
I was sure that I knew who she was
She had no idea of who I had become
I said hello fair lady of love and life
In this world of darkness I can now see
That you are the purest of lights
She reached out her well-manicured hand
Welcoming me into the house of her God
Please lost child of Zion find safety here
This place is your home just as it is mine
I shook her hand, never for a second
Forgetting all that I really am
I said thank you kindest of stranger
That I will without question admire
She smiled brighter as I walked away
There she is
The girl that I use to know
The one without any faith
The one without any purpose
That was of course a long time ago
It’s clear to me that is no longer the case
I wish I could be like her
I will try, at least for a limited time
After that I will return to where I belong
And to what remains in this world that I know
There she is
She has changed
She has been redeemed
A new person of light
A saved creature
That has escaped her once terrible plight…
