A cool poem about an odd dream of a journey that I always take in my own way...

-Surface-

The serpent of the sea
Wondrous is the dream
Riding upon his back
Cracking a whip
Screaming take me
To where it is
I’ve never been
Down
To the depths of my soul
Down
To the core of my abode
Far beyond
All that is known
He lets out a scream
Heavy I must be
He jumps from the water
The surface so clear
High into the air
I know
Restful and assured
That gravity
Won’t be ignored
Downward we will go
Together him and I
At the apex of his leap
At the height of such madness
Towards God above
I do scream
I am no closer to you
Does it seem
Just as quick
Then
We are falling free
I fight to hang on
As the speed of descending
Infinitely builds up
I can barely keep my grip
The serpent closes his eyes
I will not
Full on I wish to see
Everything as it is to be
Hitting the water
From such a height
In any form of real life
Would most certainly be fatal
But from this I will survive
I will further exist
This is nothing more
And absolutely nothing less
Than an exercise of the mind
Than an exploration of the soul
Both it seems are intertwined
One within themselves
One within each other
Here comes the surface
The impact of all of my choices
Is about to hit me full force
After breaking the plane
Of such an existence
To the true depths
Of both my mind and soul
I’ll go
Will I ever surface again
I don’t know
The serpent won’t speak
Nothing of our journey
Will I ever be told
He is doing what I say
What the force of my whip conveys
With one final crack
Upon his serpentine back
Him and I will disappear
Into the swirling darkness
Of what I have yet to see
Wondrous is the dream
Wicked is this scheme
Surface
Only after I know
And quite certain
Of what is down below…
