A reading of Lewis Carroll as seen through the eyes of a victim
Twas' brilling and the slimy toves

Watched in horror:

As young Alice stood before the Jack of Hearts
(About to make himself a tart),
As he awaited the orders from the White Queen,
"Off with her maidenhead!"

Years later,
Alice sleeps with the Walrus.
And the Carpenter,
And all the Little Oysters in the sea,
Until Humpty Dumpty says, "The time has come!"
And taking his vorpal blade,
Neatly severs the head of the Mad Hatter.

The pain consumes Alice,
Growing and expanding until it reaches the universe and beyond.

Then Alice consumes the pain,
And it shrinks, recedes,
Until it softly and suddenly fades away . . .

For the Snark was a Boojum, you see.
