A surprise that I never expected!

I’m tired of being the victim! My place has been burglarized 3 times in the last 6 months! Every time I get the money from the insurance company and replace my stolen things, the punks break in and steal them again. I have no idea how they know when I get new stuff, but it never fails that within a week, I’m getting robbed again. The last time, I caught them in the act, and got a concussion for my trouble when I tried to stop them.

From now on, I’m going to be ready. As they say, “When you need the police right now, they’re only minutes away.” I got my concealed carry permit, and a new Glock 22 today.

Since I just got my things replaced recently, I was expecting problems any day now. When I got to my front door, I heard a noise inside. Damn, the bastards are at it again! I pulled the Glock out of its holster, and took the safety off. I quietly unlocked the door, stepped inside and hit the light switch. There was a sudden movement to my right, I turned and fired 3 shots, hitting the man 3 times in the chest.

The yells of “surprise” behind me turned to screams of horror as my best friend, John, slumped down against the wall, the 3 crimson blossoms blending in with the pattern on his Hawaiian shirt as he gurgled through his own blood, “Hap…py Birth…day.”
