[Matt. 11: 28] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
[Matt. 11: 28] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

I come eagerly into your presence,

with so much I want to say.

My heart is solely fixed on you,

but my mind is far off away.

I just don't quite understand,

why my own thoughts wander through.

I kick myself time and again,

and figure there's nothing I can do.

Shame and guilt start creeping in,

and my prayers become more scarce.

But then you whisper inside my head,

saying surely those senses are farce.

I feel unworthy to come before you,

I know these distractions aren't right.

I think the rope between us has torn,

but then you go and pull it tight.

I look for ways to measure up,

my natural self can't possibly stand.

Though the set of footprints on the side,

indicates I'm loved just as I am.
