For Picture a Story Contest (March Entry). Title and Summary of story based on picture.

All Elsa ever wanted, all she ever dreamed of, was a family of her own. Ripped from her mother’s breast in her fifth year as a calf and thrust halfway across the world, Elsa grew up knowing nothing but rejection from the other animals at the circus. Then, in her bleakest moment, an angel stepped into her world. He brought with him a handful of apples, a gentle disposition and the kindest eyes she had ever known. She never looked back.

It was a warm day in 1933, when miserable Timothy McArthur went to see the last show at Pilica Circus. Little did he know, he was destined to meet an animal that was a tad too sociable and with no regard at all to the fact that she was a three and a half ton African elephant or the fact that his automobile was several sizes too small to withstand her girth.  Nevertheless, after the commotion Elsa had caused in the circus and his grave responsibility in the whole matter, there was nothing else to do but to take her home with him. He already had an unhappy wife, was buried in debt and tethering on the edge of depression. Elsa was the last thing he needed in his life.

Faced with the challenges of a cruel and unforgiving world, the odd pair embarks on a journey of self-discovery and, together, they experience the brightest days of their lives. Tearing down each other's walls to find a joy within that they never knew existed, Elsa and Timothy prove time without number that love and friendship is an uncommon wealth that sees neither man nor elephant.
