Something I wrote for my cousin and his girlfriend.

}
You sit with a bottle in your hand,
Drinking away the past.
You feel warm and amazing,
But you know that won’t last.

He sits with a pipe in his hand,
Smoking away the pain,
His pain fades – and with it his mind,
He can never be the man that you loved again.

You’re both faded,
Different streets you walk.
Addicted and in love,
But you’re forgetting to watch the clock.

Because in a day he’ll be gone,
And the bottle will remain.
He can’t love you,
Because meth took his brain.

In less than a minute,
And that is how it seems…
You’re going to step out of the haze,
And wish you could remember things.

Time moves too fast,
And that’s what you’ll see.
Yesterday never happened,
Because addiction wasn’t free.
