What is this haunting place that draws so near?
What is this haunting place that draws so near?
Which fire burns hotter than whatever star.
Who's there, providing me my deepest fear?
Whose name be darker than whichever war.

Imprisoned, not by chains or by the like,
But through my fears and lust am I controlled.
My strength is being drained so I won't strike.
Could no one save me of this cruel cold?

Why am I here, kept far and deep within?
Why am I buried in its darkest pit?
How have I wronged you? What immoral sin?
How have I harmed? What made this seem to fit?

One day I used to be as bright as pure,
But I fell down the skies, high out the air.
They lied to me, let me fall for their lure.
Still am I grieving. It is all but fair.
