After almost forty years there was a Mysterious Death at The Galactic Prison.

The Galactic Prison

Graise was Head of Security for The Galactic Prison. It was the largest prison in the Universe. And it was the best kept secret in the Universe. No one knew where it was. Or even what it looked like. All anyone knew was that if you were a Murderer, a Sex Abuser, a SpaceKiller, responsible for SpaceDeath etc. they would end up at The Galactic Prison.

The Galactic Prison was also the biggest secret in the Universe too. It was in a giant asteroid. At least it looked like an asteroid from the outside. But within that asteroid it was where The Galactic Prison was at. And it travelled around the Universe without anyone knowing what it really was.

If a spaceship, SpaceShuttle, MiniShip, MiniShuttle etc. passed it they didn’t know what it really was. No one ever landed on it to explore it, study it etc. because to keep its secret they made the asteroid Pure Death. What most planets call radiation. Not only did it keep people from discovering The Galactic Prison it also kept everyone within it from leaving, or trying to leave, it too.

There was over five hundred million prisoners at The Galactic Prison. And none of them had ever tried to escape from there. Part of that reason was because of Pure Death. But it was also because that between The Galactic Prison and the outside of that asteroid was at least one mile of solid asteroid. There was no way that anyone could escape from that prison.

So how did new prisoners get to go to that prison? And how did they get to The Galactic Prison? No one knew the answers to that question. Or if they do it was within The Galactic Prison. And they couldn’t answer it. All anyone knew was that if someone was convicted of a serious crime they would disappear from there world – and appear in The Galactic Prison.

As the Head of Security it was Graise’s job to keep those prisoners under control. That usually wasn’t that big of a problem even though she had so many prisoners to deal with. But she didn’t have to do it alone. There were two thousand Security Officers there to help her. Besides that, for a prison that prison wasn’t all that bad. But if a problem did come up it was her responsibility as Head of Security to solve it. And that was exactly what she was about to do.

“There were at least sixteen different ways he could have died,” said the Prison Medic Chaud. Chaud had just finished examining a prisoner when Graise walking into Health Care. Before she could even ask him he told her what he found from the exam.

“There’s no way you can tell me which one of those sixteen ways that he died,” asked Graise. “Isn’t there one way in particular that was the cause of his dead.”

“No, there isn’t. All sixteen of them could have caused the death of this prisoner,” said Chaud.

“Thanks Chaud,” saud Graise. “I know you did everything you could for him.”

“There really wasn’t anything for me to do,” said Chaud. “He was already dead before I was called.”

“I know,” said Graise. “But this has been the first Mysterious Death we have had in almost forty years.”

After asking Chaud a few more questions Graise left Health Care. And headed back toward where the dead prisoner was found. Graise knew he would never be the same after what he seen. She was thinking about the prisoner who found the dead prisoner.

Graise had a long walk back to where the dead prisoner was found. And on her way here she thought about what was going on there. It took her about ten minutes to get there. When she did she couldn’t believe what a mess she was looking at.

The dead prisoner came from the planet of Catunus. And about the only thing that wasn’t damaged in the dead prisoner’s cell was a painting of the cat with the bow tie on. That’s what the painting was called. And it was a self portrait of the dead prisoner.

After going over the dead prisoner’s cell once more Graise went to the Head of The Galactic Prison Isiak. She didn’t really want to go there until she knew who the killer was. But she had no choice. Isiak wanted to be updated on the death of that prisoner.

*******

That dead prisoner was only the first prisoner to be found dead. They had a SpaceKiller on The Galactic Prison. Of course, they already had a lot of SpaceKillers there. But they were the first ones Graise checked out after several prisoners ended up death. And none of them did it.

Once again Graise didn’t want to tell Isiak that she still hadn’t found out who the killer was. It had been almost two months since the first dead prisoner died. And now there was over seventy deaths. Graise still didn’t know who is killing these prisoners. But Isiak did.

Right after Graise left the phone rang. And when the phone rang Isiak picked it up. After talking to whoever was on the other end of that phone call Isiak said, “I agree. She is getting to close to the truth. It’s only a matter of time before she finds out we are killing the prisoners because there are just too many prisoners here to take care of now. And we are getting more and more of them every day. I agree. We need a new Head of Security. The next one to be found dead won’t be a prisoner. It will be Graise.”

Isiak knew she was only trying to help solve all those deaths. And he didn’t want to do it. But he had no choice. Graise was going to be the next one to be found dead.

The End?
