Almost every planet in the Universe has a Halloween celebration of some kind each year..

The Celebration of Death

The houses on that block looked like Death. All the houses had their lights on too. Which meant that the four kids could say "Trick or treat!" to all thirty of them – again.

“Is this place supposed to be haunted?” said thirteen-year-old Araih. She was looking up at an old spooky house.

“It doesn’t look haunted to me,” said ten-year-old Efal. “In fact, it looks like it did last year.”

“The lights are on,” said fifteen-year-old Laince. “So someone must be there.”

“Didn’t we have this discussion about a half hour ago? When we went to it for the third time tonight,” said twelve-year-old Thomo.

“Actually, this discussion happened all three times,” said Laince. “Who’s going to knock on the door this time?”

“You’re the oldest,” said Efal. “You should do it.”

“I agree,” said Araih. “It’s your turn to knock.”

“The knocking isn’t the problem,” said Thomo. “It’s who answers it that is.”

“We don’t have to hit every house on this block again,” said Laince. “besides, I’m only here because you are kids. And you need an adult to accompany you. It’s the Law.”

“You are still a kid too,” said Araih. “You’re not even old enough for a Transport Permit yet.”

“If you’re not a kid anymore then why are you collecting candy too,” said Thomo. He looked into his bag.

“I’m the only reason why you are here,” said Efal. “And I don’t need you either.”

Laince looked at the door. Before he could knock on it the three other kids pushed him into it – forcing him to knock the hard way. A few seconds later the door opened. The only thing that answered was a floating bowl of candy.

The End?
