I Followed You This Morning

I FOLLOWED YOU THIS MORNING

I followed you this morning
As you rushed into your day
I tried to tell you how much I love you
But there were so many things in the way

I followed you this morning
As you spent time with your friends
I had something important to tell you
But you pushed me to the side again

I followed you this morning
I saw the façade that you wear
I tried to tell you to just be yourself
But your mind was to occupied to hear

I followed you this morning
I was trying to help you make the right choice
I saw how confused you were
If only you’d take the time to listen to my voice

I followed you this morning
There was nothing I wanted you to lack
I tried to tell you how much I love you again
Finally I had to take a step back

Dear Lord Jesus
Please forgive me I pray
I’ve put all these things before you
And failed to acknowledge you today

My day has come to an end
It went by so fast
I wanted to put you first
But instead I put you last

I felt a tug throughout the day
But my mind wasn’t clear
That was Me following you my child
To let you know, for you I was here

All is forgiven, all is well
I understand things sometimes get in the way
But never allow those things
To exclude Me from your day

I followed you this morning
Because I saw what you couldn’t see
I followed you this morning
Now come and follow Me.
