The struggle of dealing with friendships and feelings from one teens view.
Have You Seen the Light?

Have you seen the light?
I have.
I once saw a world of darkness and depression.
I saw a world shallow and deserted.
I saw a world where at times life did not seem worth living.
I felt stuck, lonesome in the labyrinth I myself constructed.
But then I saw the light.
She was beautiful.
She was bright.
She was the sun radiating energy.
And I was the desperate Icarus chasing the unobtainable.
As I came closer to the light I felt I could join a new part of the world.
I felt closer to these celestial bodies that exist without a care for the world.
Little did I know that the closer I got, the more my conceit consumed
Me, my wings, and my everything.
Could I ever obtain the light?
In the penultimate step to the light I fall and the light leaves me.
I fall farther than ever before.
I fall into the abyss that seems oh so much darker than ever before.
The darkness and depression relapse worse than ever.
Have you seen the light?
I have and I am now blinded because of it.
I must stumble forward to escape the consuming darkness.
Blinded by the brightness of the light I walk forward.
Have you seen the light?
I have and I am blinded because of it.
Even blinded, the sight of joy, happiness, and hope remain.
I have lost my light, but even so with the after images of the light etched in,
I stumble forward, albeit disoriented, to find a new light.
