Just a villanelle about the end of summer romances :)
In the departure during a late summer’s night,
Contained within a quiet scent of hexenal,
One’s goodbye is like a flash of light

The lowly owl’s noise is larger than his bite
Yet his sound becomes an unknown call
In the departure during a late summer’s night

Every abandoned nest appears as a kite
The twigs makes the mother bird bawl
One’s goodbye is like a flash of light

With hushed voices there ends a fight
And flushed feels come to a crawl
In the departure during a late summer’s night

These watermelon memories were all right
But our persisting trips will start to stall
One’s goodbye is like a flash of light

Where the leaf’s green is no longer bright
And it’s drop marks the start of fall
In the departure during a late summer’s night,
One’s goodbye is like a flash of light.
