They have lived like this all of their live on Dorrin. Boudett has been the worse though.

The Sword of Pure Magic

Janella swung her sword up behind her to block a sword coming toward her. Then she swung it around to stop another sword from stabbing her in the back. That sword did nick her though. A little blood seeped out a small wound. Janella flipped her sword into her other hand in a way that put the blade behind her. Then she used it to kill the one who just tried to kill her with a thrust to where his heart should have been.

There were only five of them now. They surrounded Janella. Then they started circling her – crisscrossing each other as they slowly moved toward her. When they were only a few feet away two of the tattered uniformed fighters struck from above. The other three swung their swords in front of them.

“Ka-Ta Vai-Ne,” mumbled Janella. As her clasped hands separated the sword split into two. Janella used those swords to block all five of their swords that got within an inch of her. One after another Janella blocked most of them. A few got past her defenses to scratch her though.

Janella blocked one uniform sword with one swords. Then with the other sword she killed him. With the blocking sword she swung it around to kill the uniform next to the one she just killed. It was another heartless attack.

The other three uniforms back of. They looked at each other as they kept swinging their swords in front of them. Janella could barely hear them as they mumbling things like, “Let’s get her as one.” “She can’t kill us all at once.” And “She’s only a child.”

“Vel-Mo Hai-Noil.” A large spiked tree branch fell on them. It pinned them to the ground so Janella could use her sword to stab the two outer uniforms in their backs. Then she reversed the spell to re-combine the swords to eliminate the last fighter.

The Chosen One

“I’m sorry I’m late. I got attacked on the way here.” Janella said as she walked into large spooky looking room.

“How many of them were there this time?” Passic asked as he walked toward Janella.

Janella was smiling. “There was only six of them.”

“Did you kill them too? Of course, you did.”

“They were trying to kill me. It doesn’t matter anyway. I didn’t really kill them. After all, they are already dead.”

“That makes the fourth one this week. They are trying to kill you almost every day now.”

“We both know why they are doing that. It’s because I am The Chosen One.”

“That’s the main reason, but it’s not the only one. Boudett’s thousand years of ruling this region is almost up. Only he doesn’t want to go. Time is running out for us to stop his evilness – and he knows it. That’s why he’s been trying to kill you.”

“Ever since our creation almost fifteen thousand years ago we have lived like this. For the first four thousand it was peaceful. Then the dark times began. Ever since then most of the Rulers on Dorrin have been evil.”

Passic and Janella sat opposite each other in the center of that training center. “Our village has been hit the hardest because of Rulers like Boudett. Ever since evil started all of our Rulers have been evil. Boudett is the worst of them all though. Mostly because we can’t defeat him as long as his fortress is protected by magic. That’s why The Sword of Pure Magic is so important. It’s the only thing that might stop Boudett once and for all.”

“About six thousand years ago we started sending in good wizards to combat the evil ones the Rulers used to keep control over their regions. One of those wizards created The Sword of Pure Magic. Only the Ruler at that time found out about it. She tried to destroy it – but couldn’t. So she hid it somewhere so that it couldn’t be used. A spell was put on it to make it hide somewhere else every twenty-five years.”

“I know the legend. You have been telling me this story every day for the last eight months. Why have you been doing that.”

Passic smiled. “You have been asking me that question every day too. What has been my answer to it?”

“You said you would tell me that reason when you are ready.” Janella didn’t speak for about a minute or two. “Are you ready to tell me now.”

“The reason I have been telling you it is because I want you to know what kind of danger you are in. What you are about to do is very dangerous. There have been nine others before you. All of them are dead. You are our last hope for stopping him from Ruling us for another thousand years – if we are lucky.”

“That’s not exactly true. I’m the last one this millennium. If I fail too you have ten more chances before his Ruling ends again. I don’t plan on failing though.”

The Dark Tunnel

“You are the best wizard I have ever had. If anyone can defeat Boudett it’s you.” Janella thought as she carefully walked among the trees

“Do you have any ideas where it’s at?” Janella had asked Passic.

“I know exactly where it is – sort of. It’s in The Fortress. It has been for almost a thousand years.”

“That’s why the last nine wizards have died trying to get into The Fortress. Have you found a way for me to get in there without me getting killed too?”

“Actually, I have. I knew there was a secret way in there. It just took me about half my life to find it. It’s call The Dark Tunnel.”

“Why is it called that?” Janella had asked.

“Because it’s so dark in there you can’t see anything. That’s why you need to use your Inner light. You will also need your Inner Eyes once you get to your destination – if you make it that far.”

=====-=====-=====-=====-=====-=====

“Passic, you were right about that tunnel.” Janella had to use her Inner Eyes to see through the rock cliff in front of her.

With her eyes closed Janella ventured into The Dark Tunnel. She used her Inner Light as her guide. Janella suddenly stopped. Right in front of her a thin piece of twine blocked her way. She barely touched that twine - then she jerked her finger back. Smoke came off of her slightly burnt finger.

“Molv-Har Ovi-Yaul.” A small fire ball came out of her palm to eliminate that twine.

It was only a few minutes later Janella passed her hand over a small hole in the wall. A thousand small needles came shooting out where she would have been walking.

Janella was threatened four more times before she reached her destination. The first threat was the floor giving way to a deep dark pit. She had to use a spell quick to float over that pit.

The next threat was a stone log that came swinging down at her. Janella had to use both a spell and her sword to split it in half. It was almost ten minutes before the next threat happened. Death Mud was hard to see in the light, but almost impossible in the darkness.

In fact, Janella walked into it, and started sinking instantly, before she realized what had happened. Quickly she spoke a spell that froze the Death Mud. Then she used her sword to cut a circle around her.

Janella floated above that circle, and literally shook the frozen mud off of her. The final threat were ten human fighters. She dealt with them the same way she did the uniforms among the trees.

After dealing with the fighters Janella used her Inner Eyes to look through the rock behind them. “This quest is over. There’s no way we can defeat Boudett now.”

The Sword in the Stone – Floor

“I have found The Sword. Unfortunately, it’s being used to protect The Fortress. Did you know that has been why we haven’t been able to defeat Boudett?”

“No I didn’t, but I’m not surprised either. The magic that protects The Fortress is so strong it couldn’t be anything but The Sword of Pure Magic.” Passic was the voice in Janella’s head. “Do you have a plan on getting The Sword? You are still going after it – aren’t you? You are the first wizard that has gotten close enough to identify it.”

“The answer to both questions are – yes. Ever since you mentioned The Sword being in The Fortress I figured that’s what was protecting Boudett.”

=====-=====-=====-=====-=====-=====

With her swords in front of her Janella walked through the rock – skewering the two dead fighters just on the other side of it. She picked them up and flung them into the almost invisible energy circle that protected Boudett within it. They screamed as they hit that circle.

Boudett laughed evilly. “That isn’t going to kill them.”

“I’m not trying to kill them. Just use them to get to you.” Janella flung three more into the circle.

Several hundreds of them had already started their attack against Janella. As soon they saw Janella they advanced on her. Janella was sending them into the circle two to four at a time. She didn’t care how she did it either. Mostly she used her sword, but she also used magic.

After sending four more fighters into the circle it was time for Janella to smile. “You’re right, Boudett. I can’t kill your fighters. I can free them though.”

Janella stopped her fighting. She addressed the fighters advancing on her. “You don’t need me to free yourself from Boudett. If you want to be free you can do it yourself. All you have to do is enter the circle too.”

At first the fighters just continued their advancement, but after seeing Janella send several other fighters into the circle they got the idea. Each time a fighter hit the circle they screamed – then turned to dust and disappear. The other fighters started doing that too.

One by one the fighters not being sent into the circle by Janella flung themselves into that circle. Each time they did the energy creating it got weaker and weaker. Janella could see that by the changing of the colors within it – and the energy bolts reacting to the assaults. At first it was real strong. Now there wasn’t hardly any at all.

Using one of the fighters to help her Janella pushed her way into that circle. Energy bolts surrounded her and even entered her body. She got burnt a little - and singhed a lot.

Janella headed for The Sword of Pure Magic. An energy force tried to push her back out. It slowed her down, but she continued on. After several minutes of fighting those wind gusts Janella finally reached The Sword.

“Laig-Tai. Col-Vora.” Janella shouted just before she finally pulled The Sword of Pure Magic out of the floor.

When she did the circle disappeared. So did the energy force – and a few seconds later the fighters too. They all first turned to dust then disappeared completely.

The Sword of Pure Magic didn’t look like all the other metal swords. Its blade looked more like a red, white and blue fire blade. Janella pointed it at Boudett.

“You have been defeated. Your evilness has been destroyed. The only thing left to destroy is you.” Janella mumbled something, and a small ball of fire came out of The Sword. When it hit Boudett his body turned into a fire ball. Then he disappeared too.

When Passic and the others arrived a little later they found Janella sitting on the chair Boudett sat in earlier. Janella was smiling. “What do you think? Should I be the next Ruler of this region of Dorrin?”
