Man drinks himself to death
There's a man that lives at the bottom of his bottle
Footsteps of boy with a father to follow,
And his drink ain't that hard to swallow,
But damn don't it hurt to live?

And damn don't his feet feel heavy?
There's a tax of his soul to levy
The man that keeps on walking alone,
But damn don't it hurt to live.

He says, "I will be dead soon,
God won't come to take me home,
He gonna take me to that Devil's land."
And he gonna keep on drinking alone,
Cuz damn don't it hurt to live

And yes his feet feel heavy,
There's a tax on his soul to levy.
That man that keeps on walking alone,
Cuz damn it really hurts to live.

They say that he won't want
And it'll take away all the pain.
He aches for the greener pastures
But his drink is all he's got.
There's a bullet to put to the brain
For when the serpent bares his fangs.
He says, "I'm thirsty can you spare some change,
I need a bottle of whiskey and a shoulder to lean
Cuz God won't look my way.

And yes my feet feel heavy,
There's a tax on my soul to levy
I just don't want to die alone,
Cuz damn it really hurts to live.
