For anyone who has ever liked someone too much
Pray

If I had wings I would just take off
And not be seen again
Just take my piece and break off
Find my own refrain
I'd find my voice and use it
Tell you straight at last
But dancing round the tar pits
Has ceased these wings up fast
Awkward in the mire
Of thoughts that loiter round
Time to bring some fire
To peat encrusted ground
Cremating long dead memories
Just taking too much space
Hoarded over time for years
… Still I'd see your face
Beckoning at midnight
Calling from familiar shores
Stuttering through highlights
Dumbstruck with my cause
Let the earth just fall away
I'll take the things I need
You, you never had a say
…. knew you were decreed
Aware how high your alter
… never knew your place
'cause every time I faltered,
I stumbled with the pace
So please, just know you mattered
I hope at least that's clear
Glass confidence so shattered
With several years of fear
Time for me to leave now
To spread these wings and soar
The whole worlds at your feet now
… please take up what is yours
